John McKay’s space on the web.
I’m just a loco kid getting paid for my vocals.
When I’m bored, sometimes I work on coding projects.
Stuff that I use to kill time.
A batteries-included mail server configuration for Arch Linux.
Development is somewhat stalled on this as I realized that most people who want a grab and go mail server will probably just use a containerized image. This now mainly serves as a development repo for my personal mail server.
SMTP relay written in python to add DKIM signatures using rspamd.
This is a stop-gap solution until OpenSMTPD supports mail filters which should be in the next version. It also served as a learning project for python async programming.
A console timer. It’s designed to replace utimer as development on that project has stalled and when I went to fix some annoyances I discovered it is glib hell.
encpipe is awesome, but the Gimli permutation is a bit new for me to trust. This version has been switched to use libsodium primitives instead of libhydrogen.
A simple bash script to replace the Perl script that comes with abcde. Arch Linux doesn’t package the Perl modules needed for that script so I wrote a replacement that uses OpenSSL to calculate the discids and jq to parse the Musicbrainz data.
Unhappy with your current weight? Check out the /r/loseit and /r/fatlogic subs on reddit. /r/loseit has step-by step instructions on how to start.
I personally lost 110lbs with the help of those subs. If you want to feel better and be healthier and are carrying excess weight check them out.
I use MyFitnessPal to track my food intake. My food diary is open to the public. If you think that you have to eat nothing but kale, water, and air in order to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight I encourage you to check it out. You will see that I eat all sorts of junk.
For more details on why I put have my food diary open to the public and also a bit of a rant check my weight loss page.
I like to ride my bicycle; I like to ride my bike.
I record most of my longer rides on Strava, as well as my indoor training. I’m fairly garbage at cycling, but it doesn’t stop it from being enjoyable.
When I changed my diet to lose weight, I ended up cooking for myself quite a bit more than before. However, I’m a very lazy cook. Many of the fancy recipes you can find online take too many steps and ingredients for me to make them on a regular basis.
My recipe page has some of my go-to recipes, mostly using the Instant Pot. I think that I have come up with a number of low-cost, low-calorie, high-taste, and high-nutrition meals.
